That ancient Bed Bath & Beyond coupon buried in your junk drawer might be more valuable than you think.

The retailer has launched its “Legendary Coupon Hunt,” inviting people across the country to track down their oldest store coupon for a chance to win a $100,000 home makeover.

The nationwide contest began Monday and runs through July 13.

“For decades, our customers treated these coupons like treasure,” said Amy Sullivan, president of Bed Bath & Beyond. “They tucked them into purses, filing cabinets, cookbooks and memory boxes because they believed they would be valuable someday. We think they were right. The Legendary Coupon Hunt is our way of celebrating the customers who helped build this brand while creating one of the biggest customer events in our history.”

The company says it doesn’t matter if the coupon is expired, faded or decades old — all are eligible.

One grand-prize winner will receive the $100,000 makeover. Additional prizes include $500 gift cards for 100 winners and $100 gift cards for 50 winners.
