New automated speed cameras are being launched in several school zones in Fairfield.
The cameras will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
When school is in session, there will be a 20 mile per hour speed limit enforcement.
When school is not in session, the speed limit will be 25 miles per hour.
The cameras will operate at the following schools:
- Dwight Elementary on Redding Road
- Notre Dame High School on Jefferson Street
- Burr Elementary on Burr Street
- Riverfield Elementary on Mill Plain Road
- Fairfield Ludlowe High School on Unquowa Road
- Fairfield Warde High School on Melville Avenue
The first fine will be $50, then $75 for each additional violation.
The School Zone Safety Program begins Friday.
