Mets fans in Connecticut have typically had two options to get to Citi Field—drive and sit in traffic on the highway or take multiple trains. Now, starting April 25, they can get there via ferry service from Stamford on select weekends.

“We received an inquiry from the Cohen team from the Mets and from Seastreak to partner on an opportunity to give residents a direct route to Mets games, and we said, ‘Yes. Absolutely. We want to partner on this!” Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons told News 12.

Seastreak will run service for 24 games throughout the season, beginning Saturday when the Mets take on the Rockies. The boat leaves from the dock behind the Wheel Restaurant at the Village and drops passengers at the World's Fair Marina in Queens.

“We have, you know, luxurious seating. We have a top deck, open air, 360-degree views. There's free parking at the Wheel in Stamford. And the big value add—we have a bar on board,” said Seastreak President James Barker.

The boat seats 150 people and takes about one hour and 15 minutes each way. Tickets are $85 roundtrip. There are also some combo packages, which include both boat and game tickets.

“It's early. It's the spring, but most of these boats are getting to be close to sold out for the beginning of the season,” Barker said. “So, I think we'll have pretty good demand.”

“No question about it—I’m sure it's going to be a hit,” stated Chris Wurst, of Greenwich.

Wurst grew up a Mets fan and has first-hand experience of the ferry’s route. He and wife Pam have taken their boat, more than any other type of transportation, to games.

“It's nicer. You get the whole view of Long Island Sound,” Wurst told News 12.

Depending on how things go, ferry service in Connecticut could expand in the future, according to Barker.

“I think this is really getting our foot in the door and demonstrating we can operate ferry service out of Stamford, and there's no limit to the possibilities of what we could do,” said Barker.

“It’s going to be a wonderful opportunity for Stamford,” Simmons echoed. “I am a Yankees fan, but I am very much looking forward to going to see a Mets game and taking my kids on this ferry.”

Wurst told News 12 he’s talked to a lot of his sports friends, and they’re also all in on the ferry—whether they’re Mets fans or not.

“So, I’ve got to get on the horn here, and definitely make a reservation for it,” said Wurst.
