Police confirm ICE carried out enforcement in Glen Cove

According to Glen Cove police Det. Lt. John Nagle, local law enforcement, was not given any heads up by the federal agents.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents carried out their latest series of immigration-related arrests during an enforcement action in Glen Cove this morning, according to Glen Cove police Det. Lt. John Nagle.
According to the Glen Cove Police Department, local officers were responding to a call from a business owner about a possible assault in progress near the Glen Street Train Station around 8:30 a.m., but when city officers arrived, they realized it was ICE.
One witness told News 12 what he saw.
"They were sitting on the ground; they had them all on the ground," the man said. "One was on a rock, one was against the pole."
Glen Cove police said they were not given any advance notice about the enforcement action and said local officers did not assist in any of the arrests.
Witnesses said ICE agents were seen by the Glen Street Train Station, La Placita Bravo Supermarket and Ronald's Store all along Cedar Swamp Road.
According to the latest U.S. Census data, 33% of Glen Cove residents are Hispanic. Some people in the community is now terrified.
"It's getting out of control now," the witness said. "We've never had this problem in Glen Cove. These guys are hardworking guys. It has to stop."
News 12 reached out to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials for more details about this particular enforcement, but hasn't heard back at this time.
