Dilian Cantrell, currently the youngest member of the international touring production of "
Stomp", is giving back to a Stamford summer program and inspiring the next generations of performers.
The position is a homecoming for Cantrell, who attended the camp for seven years.
Cantrell credits what he learned on the stage as the reason he was able to earn a spot on the tour right out of high school.
He says because the tour is on break, it worked out perfectly for him to come back and teach.
"Being back here and being offered the position to come back here definitely means more to me than touring with Stomp. I love performing, but being able to give back to my community, being a Stamford local is more important to me than performing in Indiana or Michigan for people who I don't really know," he said.
Fellow camp instructors say they hope students realize that they can achieve their own careers in theatre after learning about Cantrell's success story.
