A juvenile is facing charges after they made a threat toward a school in Ansonia on social media, police say.

On Saturday, police were informed by Ansonia Public Schools about a threatening post made on TikTok, which referenced a school in the district.

Following an investigation, officers learned a 12-year-old who had attended a school in Ansonia was responsible for the post.

Police say the pre-teen is no longer enrolled in the Ansonia Public School System and attends school in another municipality.

Officers have determined there was no creditable threat to the school system, its students or staff.

The juvenile was arrested Monday and charged with threatening and breach of peace. They were released to a parent and are expected to appear in juvenile court at a future date.
