Gov. Lamont orders activation of the Connecticut Emergency Operations Center

Gov. Ned Lamont has ordering an activation of the Connecticut Emergency Operations Center (EOC) ahead of the nor’easter that is anticipated to deliver heavy rain and strong winds across Connecticut.
The EOC will enter enhanced monitoring mode effective at 10:00 p.m. Friday. It will then enter a partial activation mode effective at 7:00 a.m. Saturday,with state agency staff and partner liaisons providing in-person support. The EOC will remain activated 24/7 throughout the duration of the storm.

Gov. Ned Lamont reiterates advisories and warnings for Connecticut in a post on X.
He says to be aware of a wind advisory for all of Connecticut until early Sunday morning, a coastal flood warning for Fairfield and New Haven counties from 6 p.m. today until 6 p.m. Sunday and a coastal flood advisory for Middlesex and New London counties from 6 p.m. today until 6 p.m. Sunday.
"The intensity depends on the track of the storm, and as the forecast develops, I am encouraging everyone to stay alert for continued updates throughout this weekend," Lamont says.
He warns residents to never attempt to drive through a flooded road.
The Greenwich Police Department also shared a reminder for residents to prepare for the nor'easter earlier today.
They say to expect downed trees, downed power lines, power outages and hazardous travel conditions.
Family Nature Day canceled

The White Memorial Conservation Center has canceled its 44th annual Family Nature Day scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, in Litchfield due to dangerous wind conditions; the Nature Museum will be open free of charge from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
MTA prepares to maintain safe, reliable service ahead of nor’easter

New York City travel systems will focus on maintaining safety and reliability throughout the nor’easter this weekend.
MTA CEO Janno Lieber says all agencies will have teams evaluate weather issues in real-time.
Wind is the biggest concern for the storm, especially after downed powerlines disrupted LIRR service on Wednesday.
PSEG and LIPA leadership will be diligent and address any issues as they arise.
Lieber says MTA crews have been deployed at strategic locations so they can respond quickly and efficiently.
Empty tractor trailers and tandem trucks will also be banned from MTA bridges and tunnels starting at midnight.
Lieber also said the city’s bus command center is fully staffed throughout the weekend. Reroute plans will allow the system to continue running despite possible flooding.
Fairfield flooding

Fairfield Emergency Management is monitoring the nor'easter expected this weekend and warns flooding may occur along the coast and near rivers, especially at high tides at 11:54 p.m. Saturday, 12:09 p.m. Sunday, 12:36 a.m. Monday and 12:49 p.m. Monday; residents who experience recurrent flooding should consider moving cars to the Fairfield Train Station lot at 165 Unquowa Road (southbound side), where parking restrictions are waived during storm emergencies.
