Connecticut's largest city is wrapping up the month of May this weekend with plenty of food and fun. News 12 Connecticut's Mark Sudle is at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Park Avenue in Bridgeport with a preview of this week's Main Street, Connecticut. And Mark, boy, I, you're making me hungry. I know this already. Well, you just wait now. You just wait. Now the Greek festival is always a good time here. It starts today and runs through the weekend. Joining me again this morning are Shay and Arthur Benetis, and I thank you both for doing this this morning. First of all, let me ask you a little bit about the church. Tell us about it. So one of the most special things about this festival is that we do offer tours of our magnificent Byzantine style Greek Orthodox Church. We welcome all. Of our guests to come through, see it, experience the beauty, the tradition of our faith. It's really, really special. It's our home away from home, and you've got a lot of activities for the kids, Mark. We have all sorts of activities in addition to Greek music, live music, dancing. We have bounce houses, face paint, slime bar, art, sand art, all sorts of activities for all ages. Come down, have a great time. Sounds awesome. Now, of course we've got to get to the food, of course. Couldn't get the gyros and all that stuff because it's hot, but what do we have here? Well, these are our delicious authentic pastries made homemade by our ladies popticos here. So we have pasta flora, we have seragli, Metisa, kabiedes, fenicia, karakia, kaifi, and of course the famous baklava. This is all delicious, all homemade and fresh. It's really our pride and joy, and a lot of these really tradition. are what nuts, honey, lots of nuts, honey, cinnamon. We have some apricot here. This is beer battered phyllo dough, phyllo, shredded phyllo, and of course the powdered sugar, which, you know, the kids love these. It's just a traditional butter cookie which if I ate that it would be all over you. I'm going to give one of these to my man Kenny, our photographer, and I'm gonna have you hold this because I'm going to need my hands. I mean, I'm going to go. Course for the baklava baklava. I mean who doesn't love the baklava? Old Faithful, of course, uh, going to need some hand sanitizer, I think. Well, you're going to need some wipes, and while you eat that, we just want to thank everyone, our sponsors, the community, the ladies for making this delicious pastry.
