Norwalk Combined Dispatched responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle at approximately 10:09 p.m. Tuesday night.

Upon arrival police officers, firefighters and EMS workers found a 34-year-old-man suffering from serious injuries.

Preliminary investigation shows that the collision occurred as the pedestrian was crossing eastbound through the intersection, while the car was traveling northbound along main street.

The operator of the vehicle fled the scene immediately following the incident.

The male was provided care on the scene and transported to area hospital for further treatment.

Norwalk police say the investigation remains ongoing.
