Former New Haven police chief Karl Jacobson entering a not guilty plea today to charges he stole about $85,000 from his own department.

Jacobson was arrested in February after an investigation into money missing from a police fund.

Prosecutors say Jacobson admitted to the theft saying he was trying to cover gambling losses and had intended to repay the money.
