Two Bridgeport men have been indicted for robbing a Clinton jewelry store, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut says.
In March, the indictment charged Kelijah Richardson and Anibal Rivera with interference with commerce by robbery. They are accused of robbing the KAY Outlet at the Clinton Premium Outlets on Feb. 3 and stealing $184,000 worth of items.
Federal prosecutors say the robbery is one in a serious of robberies, burglaries and attempted robberies and burglaries committed by pair at jewelry stores between Sept. 2025 and February in Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts.
Prosecutors say during each incident, the duo wore dark clothing, masks and gloves. They allegedly used hammers or other tools to break jewelry showcases to steal items. They add that pair then left in vehicles that have no license plates, are stolen or have obstructed license plates.
Richardson, who was arrested on March 9 on a federal criminal complaint, appeared in Bridgeport Federal Court Friday and pleaded not guilty. He was released on a $250,000 bond.
Prosecutors say Rivera has been detained since his arrest on Feb. 3. on a state warrant from an alleged robbery that happened at the Buckland Hills Mall in Sept. During that robbery, $259,000 in jewelry was taken.
