A sweeping Field of Flags in New Canaan is paying tribute to the nation, the freedoms Americans enjoy and the men and women who have defended them.
The display is part of the New Canaan Exchange Club’s long-standing Americanism programs at the New Canaan Museum & Historical Society.
Organizers say the event is designed to inspire unity across generations and remind the community that freedom is never free.
A lesser-known fact: the first American flag to fly over the nation was not made by Betsy Ross. The flag made by Ross was the third flag to fly over the nation.
The display includes all 26 flags that have flown over the country and will be on display for one month.
