A Bridgeport man was sentenced Tuesday for sexually assaulting customers in his furniture store, prosecutors say.

Salem Hennawi will spend at least 17 months in prison.

Earlier this year, he was convicted of sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

Prosecutors say the incidents occurred between 2019 and 2021 at Salem Furniture on Porter Street.

During the incidents, Hennawi would escort the women to the store's basement and promise them a special deal. Instead he assaulted or retained them.
