Trumbull police say there is no longer a threat to the community
Trumbull Police are no longer telling people to stay inside after a manhunt that started Monday evening.
Police say while this is an active incident, there is no information at this time indicating a continuing threat to the community. Residents should continue their normal daily activities, remain aware of their surroundings, and report any suspicious activity immediately by contacting the Trumbull Police Department.
The situation stemmed from a larger operation Monday night connected to a stolen car and a shooting investigation out of Bridgeport.
According to police, Trumbull officers assisted in the search for several men believed to be involved in a shooting Monday afternoon in Bridgeport. Officers spotted a stolen vehicle just after 7:30 p.m. and pursued it on Route 8 into Trumbull.
Police say the suspects then bailed out of the car on Booth Hill Road and ran.
Two men were taken into custody shortly after during a search of the area and were turned over to Bridgeport police.
Officers continued searching through the night for any additional suspects who may have fled nearby, bringing in help from multiple agencies, along with K-9 units and drones.
Police are asking anyone in the Booth Hill Road, Columbine Road, or surrounding neighborhoods who may have information related to this investigation to contact the Trumbull Police Department.
