Sen. Richard Blumenthal praised a federal judge's decision Tuesday to halt construction of President Donald Trump's proposed White House ballroom, calling it a "monstrous" project funded through improper channels.
"A federal judge is absolutely right to order a stop to President Trump's construction of this monstrous new ballroom because he's failed to come to Congress for the money — and I'm going to continue my investigation into the $400 million that he's taken in donations from Big Tech, cryptocurrency, defense manufacturing giants, all really stinking of corruption," Blumenthal stated.
The U.S. District judge in Washington issued the injunction after lawsuits challenged the project's funding and environmental compliance. The ruling delays enforcement for two weeks to allow the Trump administration time to file an appeal.
