A 41-year-old woman is in critical condition after losing control of her motorcycle and crashing into a utility pole and gate in Bridgeport Saturday night, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.
Police say the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received a call around 8:45 p.m. near Newfield Avenue and Beardsley Street, from a woman who reported that her friend had been involved in a motorcycle crash and was unresponsive.
A preliminary investigation found that the woman was traveling north on Newfield Avenue when she lost control of the motorcycle and struck a utility pole on the sidewalk, before crashing through a gate and coming to rest on the property at 560 Newfield Ave.
EMS rushed the woman to Bridgeport Hospital, where she is in critical condition as of Sunday morning.
The scene was secured while the Bridgeport Police Reconstruction Team investigated.
