The ex-husband of a Connecticut woman accused of killing her three children could take legal action following last week's mistrial in the high-profile case.

An attorney for Patrick Clancy said he and his family have been subjected to what was described as a "destructive defamation campaign" that has resulted in real-life threats.

The attorney said the spread of what he called "blatant and baseless falsehoods" must stop.

According to the statement, legal action could follow if the alleged misinformation continues.

The comments come days after a judge declared a mistrial in the murder case against Lindsay Clancy.

The mistrial was declared Friday after jurors reported they were deadlocked.
