Parents across Connecticut gathered at the state capitol in Hartford Wednesday to protest discussions over changes to the state’s vaccine and education policies.
Health officials are considering recommending more vaccines than federal guidelines. Supporters of the proposal said the changes are needed because the Trump administration is limiting long‑standing access to immunizations.
Opponents said the plan gives the state “too much power.”Lawmakers are also reviewing proposed updates to homeschooling rules.
The plan would require parents to show their children are receiving an education equal to what public schools offer.
Connecticut is the only state where homeschooling remains unregulated.
