Jamaican culture was on full display in Bridgeport this weekend as the city hosted its annual Jamaican Independence Celebration.
Organizers say people traveled from across the tri-state area to take part in the festivities, which featured Caribbean food, live music, entertainment and cultural performances.
The event celebrates Jamaica's independence while bringing together families, community members and visitors from throughout the region.
Organizers say the annual gathering has become a major showcase of Jamaican pride in Bridgeport.
"You get a lot of people from all over the tri-state on this stage and witnessing a lot of artists, great food, great people, the music, the culture, the entertainment. There's just so much to offer," an organizer said.
Attendees spent the day enjoying traditional food, performances and a celebration of Jamaican heritage and culture.
