A major food drive aimed at helping families facing food insecurity is underway in Bridgeport.
St. Vincent's Medical Center and Aquarion Water Company have launched the 16th Annual House of Hope Food Drive, with organizers setting a goal of collecting 10 tons of food.
Organizers say the need is especially urgent this year, noting that more than 11,000 Fairfield County families are at risk of losing some or all of their SNAP benefits.
Donations collected through the drive will support local families in need.
The food drive runs through Nov. 16.
