A 22-year-old Bridgeport man is fighting for his life after being struck in the head with a large rock Wednesday morning. Police initially believed the injured man was homeless because he was discovered sleeping under a covered bike rack at BJ Brown Park in the Hollow section of the city.

However, detectives have since said the victim's family has identified him and confirmed that he does indeed have a home. Mayor Joe Ganim strongly condemned the horrifying crime Thursday, calling on the suspect to surrender to police as investigators continue their probe.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Kevin Cronin at 203-581-5292.
