Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey team took to the ice Friday to play Holy Cross, but not before a very special appearance.
A student from the Horizons Sacred Heart University program was chosen to do the puck drop.
The program and students were also highlighted.
Horizons SHU provides year-round, tuition-free support for pre-k through 12th grade students in Bridgeport.
"We are thrilled to be able to celebrate together the great work that Sacred Heart University does in supporting over 300 Bridgeport scholars. The program continues to grow year over year with exceptional outcomes so we couldn't be more proud of the work that's being done," says Ashley Freeman, executive sirector of Horizons Sacred Heart University.
The program has been supporting students in Bridgeport for over 15 years.
