A Bridgeport man is facing charges for a fatal hit-and-run that happened in Norwalk, police say.
Edwin Francisco-Bonilla was taken into custody Monday.
On Nov. 19, police responded to the intersection of Van Buren and Bedford avenues for a person hit by a car. Officers determined the person was hit by two different vehicles.
Police say video captured from a nearby vehicle's dashboard camera showed a man crossing Van Buren Avenue in the crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle that Francisco-Bonilla was driving.
Police say Francisco-Bonilla did not stop for a red light while turning left from Bedford Avenue onto Van Buren Avenue. Following the crash, he did not stop and continued driving.
A second vehicle was traveling Van Buren Avenue and struck the man because the driver was unable to see the man lying in the road. Police say they did stop and provide aid.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital, where later died from his injuries.
Francisco-Bonilla's charges include evading responsibility resulting in death, misconduct with a motor vehicle, and failure to obey a traffic control signal.
His bond was set $100,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court June 1.
