Now, after a lot of hard work and determination, the beloved local attraction is welcoming players back.
"My father built this 31 years ago. He's very proud of the business. He is proud of bringing it back,” says Larock.
She described the storm that destroyed their family business.
"That day started off a rainy day like any other, but the rain kept coming faster, harder. When we came the next day, it was total devastation,” she says.
Now, nearly two years later, players are lining up to tee off.
The Sciarrino family came out for the first time since the restoration.
“It's like you're kind of walking through a little piece of Oxford itself,” says mom, Kristy.
"It is very peaceful here. It's like you're just stepping out in nature and it's really fun,” says daughter, Bella.
Kinsley is the most gung-ho player you'll find on the course.
"You should come to mini golf because mini golf a really fun and it's really fun playing it with other people,” says Kinsley.
Larock hopes people make Old Sawmill Miniature Golf a destination.
"I hope they love it as much as we do. I hope they go out there and have fun with their families and enjoy themselves. We want this to be a place where they feel our love that we put into this and have a great time,” says Larock.
Old Sawmill Miniature Golf is open daily through the end of summer. Once school begins, the course will be open on weekends only.
Old Sawmill Miniature Golf is cash only. It is located at 345 Oxford Road (Rt. 67) in Oxford, CT.
