The City of Norwalk held its 5th Annual NorWALK for Mental Health today to kick off Mental Health Awareness Month and honor National Prevention Week.
The event included a wellness fair on the town green and a 1.5-mile walk. 75 local groups were represented, with a full slate of activities from bouncy houses to food trucks to art-making.
Speakers of all ages shared their mental health stories to offer hope and inspiration.
Organizers with the Norwalk Partnership say the event is designed to unite the community and remind people they are not alone.
Margaret Watt, Prevention Director of Positive Directions, shared her perspective.
"People see there's help - there's peer support, there's traditional treatment, and there's just fun things you can do that are social and engaging that lift your mood," she said.
