Friday marked the final day of New Canaan High School’s safe driving week.
Students learned throughout the week about the dangers of texting and driving, speeding and driving under the influence, among other topics.
The event had guest speakers and demonstrations, like showing the proper ways to drive around trucks.
On the final day, police staged a mock DUI accident, with the fire department and EMS showing up to the scene to give the kids a glimpse of what could happen when driving impaired.
Officer Shane Gibson, the student resource officer for New Canaan High School, says that the kids responded positively to the driving safety week and have been taking a lot out of it.
