Howard Knapp, 82, and his wife Pat, 84, celebrated their ninth Valentine’s Day together at their home in Milford.
“We love spending every minute together, and we feel so lucky to have each other,” Mr. Knapp told News 12.
Mrs. Knapp said she is equally grateful for their happy marriage.
“We both lost our spouses to health battles – but then we got back out there and looked for true love a second time — and thankfully we found it in each other,” she said.
She encouraged others who have lost a spouse not to give up on finding companionship.
“My husband and I encourage anybody who’s older — like us — and has lost a precious spouse to never, ever give up on finding somebody new. We did it — and you can, too,” she said.
The couple said they are grateful the internet brought them together.
“I would never have found this beautiful woman sitting next to me without the internet,” Mr. Knapp said. “I know it may be intimidating to a lot of older folks to go online, like it’s a strange new world, but it’s really just technology, like a telephone.”
