What started as one man's side project during the COVID-19 pandemic has quickly become a Halloween tradition.
The "Boona Vista Spooktacular" is open on Buena Vista Street in Stamford.
Dionisios Efkarpidis says it started as a small walkthrough attraction in his garage back in 2021. It's gotten bigger and better since.
"It's really intense," Efkarpidis says. "A couple of years ago, we had Ron Howard walk through here, which was a treat."
Efkarpidis says he takes a few weeks off from work to design, build, and create the entire attraction himself.
"I tried to do a more cohesive theme this year," Efkarpidis says, "with, like, a mad scientist lab, witchcraft, and a post-apocalyptic theme."
Admission is free, but last year, Efkarpidis says he started collecting donations for Yale New Haven Children's Hospital to help kids who may not be able to celebrate Halloween themselves.
"I just want to give back to the community," Efkarpidis says. "When they walk out and they say, 'Thank you,' and smile and say they're happy... That's the goal."
The attraction runs through Sunday.
