A man is now facing charges for shooting and killing a Bridgeport firefighter. Police say 41-year-old Jabari Bush shot and killed Terrence Kramer. Kramer served in the department for almost 10 years. Police say they found Kramer bleeding heavily with a gunshot wound on Feeley Street in Stratford. Bush is being charged with murder. He's due in court on Monday.

Well, meantime, the man accused of murdering a Bridgeport firefighter Saturday appeared before a judge today. Many of Terrence Kramer's colleagues packed the courtroom. Jabari Bush is accused of shooting Kramer after breaking into his into the home of his ex-girlfriend. The arrest warrant says Bush found Kramer asleep in bed with a woman at the home on Feeley Street in Stratford. The warrant says Bush had been trying to rekindle the relationship and had shown up at her house Thursday. He then came back just before midnight Friday, ringing the doorbell 4 times. He then returned nearly 2 hours later, finding a way inside, and that led to the fatal confrontation. Kramer was a Bridgeport firefighter for almost 10 years. Truly hits us hard. Terrence, every morning that he came in, he was following shift after me, uh, always greeted me with a smile and a hug. Always asked me how my kids were, how my son was. He was a, a, a mentor to me, both on the job and off the job. Well, the girlfriend says she dated Bush for about 5 years before breaking things off in January and then starting a new relationship with Kramer last month. Kramer leaves behind two boys. A judge increased Bush's bond to $3 million and issued a protective order for the girlfriend.

A community is in mourning one day after police say a Bridgeport firefighter was shot to death in Stratford. Our Frank Recchia has the story. Bridgeport Fire Chief Lance Edwards, walking with a heavy heart today, each step weighted by the agonizing loss of one of his own firefighters, 41-year-old Terrence Kramer, who is about to celebrate his 10th year with the department. Police say he was shot to death on Saturday. When the phone rings early in the morning, it's never good, unfortunately. We're accustomed to getting calls about fires and. Different emergencies going on throughout the city, but to hear this type of news is devastating. Kramer, he says, was the ultimate team player beloved by his firefighter family. He was just steadfast, came to work every day, did his job, and truly, truly loved what he did. Stratford police say it was here on Feeley Street in Stratford where Kramer was found critically wounded after being shot. Just before 2 Saturday morning, they later arrested Jabari Bush of West Haven following a motor vehicle pursuit in Derby Saturday afternoon. A tragic loss to lose one of our members who truly, truly loved what he did. What he did, he did here at the Central Avenue fire station where every firefighter stands like a solid brick wall between the public and danger. And while the rhythm of life continued uninterrupted today for those firefighters, it was plain to every heart and ear that Kramer's absence was deeply felt here, grief counselors on hand to help everyone dealing with the unexpected death. The whole administration is really heartbroken on the loss of Of Terrence Kramer, Edwards saying the truck he rode, the path he strode, the caring heart he always showed have left this department in heartbreak mode. It's sad news and will certainly impact the Bridgeport Fire Department in the short term. In Bridgeport, Frank Recchia, News 12, Connecticut. Edwards says he's deeply grateful to the Stratford police for making a quick arrest. Bush is set to go before a judge tomorrow.
