Mourners from across the country gathered at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit to bid a final farewell to 46-year-old Johnny Nesmith, a former church deacon who was recently shot to death at the PT Barnum Apartments.

The emotional service took place under a watchful police presence outside the sanctuary, coming just two weeks after the tragic shooting.

Pastor Kenneth Moales Jr., who presided over the funeral, remembered Nesmith as a great father, a dedicated deacon, and a close, trusted friend.

Police are continuing to look for the killer.
