Part of Great Island in Darien was temporarily closed after coyotes were spotted in the area.
Police say a mother coyote and her six pups were in the area, but the park has since reopened.
Officials advise the public to still proceed with caution when attending the park. They are advised to carry a whistle or horn as a precautionary measure.
Animal control officials say the mother is likely to be protective of her young.
Officials say keeping a distance will help prevent any potential encounters as the animals move through the area.
