Connecticut's tax-free week is bringing record numbers of shoppers into stores, according to one local business owner.

David Levy of Hawley Lane Shoes said the sales tax holiday has generated more business than in previous years.

The tax-free week applies to certain clothing and footwear purchases.

Levy said a change to the program has allowed shoppers to save on more items this year.

"In previous years, you would save tax on anything under $100. This year, they changed it to anything under $300, which is basically everything in the store," Levy said.

Levy said the increased threshold has helped drive a surge in customers.

"So, Saturday is the last day to come in and save, for the whole family," he said.

This year marks Connecticut's 27th sales tax-free week.
