The Connecticut Lottery Corporation on Thursday conducted a public drawing to select members of the Connecticut Citizens’ Assembly on Property Taxes.
Ball 29 was chosen from 40 numbered lottery balls, with each ball representing a group of 110 eligible Connecticut residents. The selected group will serve on the assembly.
The initiative, organized by the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities, Yale University, the University of Connecticut, and the Connecticut Office of the State Comptroller, will bring together residents from across the state to study Connecticut’s property tax system and develop recommendations.
“Public confidence is critical to us,” said Frank Suarez, president and CEO of the Connecticut Lottery Corporation. “We are proud to bring the same care, discipline, and procedural integrity we use in our own drawing operations to a public selection process that serves the people of Connecticut.”
Lottery officials said their role was limited to conducting the random selection process. The assembly is expected to begin meeting in July.
