A Bridgeport man was rearrested Monday after police say he took off while awaiting trial for his role in a fatal wrong-way crash.

In August 2023, Wilber Martinez was arrested for a double fatal wrong-way crash that killed Westport mom of three Monica Wilson the year before.

The crash also killed Martinez’s passenger, Ananias Castillo-Icabalzeta, 47, of Bridgeport, and injured several people.

Martinez was a no-show in court last month when he was called in to set a jury selection date in his upcoming trial. The judge issued a rearrest order.

Prosecutors say police found him hiding on a front porch under garbage bags.

His bond has been set at $4 million.
