The Bridgeport community and local leaders gathered Saturday to celebrate Bishop Ronnie Brayboy, of the House of God Community Church, marking 70 years of dedicated service on the East End and citywide.

The bishop, who is in his 90s, was honored for his deep impact beyond the church walls, including mentoring youth to stay in school and overcome the challenges of drugs and violence.

Brayboy was also singled out for his 70 years of marriage to Mildred Brayboy.

Reflecting on his decades-long journey, the religious leader said his mission to guide the community is still far from over.
