More than 85 children had the chance to see what it is like to be a sports broadcaster.

The experience was part of the National Sports Broadcasting Camp at Seton Hall University. The program provides a hands-on experience while being guided by top professionals in the industry – professionals like Dave Popkin, New Jersey’s Sportscaster of the Year.

"We're lighting the spark for these kids…We introduced them to situations on air, on the radio, and on TV,” Popkin said.

“This is what I want to do. This is the end goal for me is to be a radio talk show host, on afternoon drive or even in the morning, you know, the two prime time spots,” says camper Ben Balian.

This was the 24th year of the camp at Seton Hall. Campers got to see the ins and outs of sports broadcasting - like calling games, hosting shows, writing scripts and even reading from the teleprompter.
