A Fairfield doctor has been arrested in connection to a half-billion dollar fraud scheme.
Dr. Martin Perlin was the medical director for Fast Lab Technologies.
Prosecutors say Fast Lab operated a website offering free at-home COVID-19 tests during the pandemic.
When people ordered the kits, they were asked for insurance information, officials say.
Officials say Fast Lab would use that information to bill Medicare, Medicaid and other health insurance providers for tests that were never performed.
At least $500 million was paid out.
