Easton EMS has a newly renovated home, but volunteers can't start using it just yet.
While the inside of the building is complete, the outside area around the building resembles an active construction zone.
"All the furniture is here, the air conditioning works, the lighting works, the floors are done, all the office space works," Chief Jon Arnold says. "There are some questions about soil, and whether it can be dug or not."
The town says it's currently waiting on environmental test results before the septic system can be completely installed and the parking lot can be properly graded.
There have been plenty of different types of businesses that have operated near the building the past few decades, First Selectman Dan Lent says.
The town is getting DEEP involved to make sure everything is up to code.
"If you've ever built a house or you've ever built anything... there's always change orders and things that come up," First Selectman Dan Lent says. "We just hope that this can be managed, and that's what we're trying to do."
Chief Arnold says Easton EMS and its volunteers are currently working out of a temporary house right now before they can move in to the newly renovated building on Sport Hill Rd.
Chief Arnold is hoping they can move in by the end of June.
"It kind of gets a little demoralizing, I hate to say," Chief Arnold says. "Even though in light of some of these things that kind of stall it out a little bit, these folks are here every time you dial 911."
