Talk about a catch of the day — a Newtown man has set a new state fishing record.
Rafal Wlazlo caught a 45-pound, 8-ounce common carp in Lake Lillinonah, according to Connecticut Fish and Wildlife.
The previous record was 45 pounds, 5 ounces.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says common carp typically weigh around 30 pounds.
