Two months before thousands of music fans were set to come to Bridgeport’s Seaside Park, festival officials pulled the plug.
It would’ve been the fourth year for the event, with acts like The Killers, Weezer and Hozier set to perform.
“As someone who went to this festival, I know how much it is to invest in these tickets, and it’s a whole day thing," says Gabi Tozzi, of Bridgeport. "It’s too bad. I know that there were a lot of long lines in the first two years, and I know that cost was something that people brought up."
The festival announced the cancellation on its website, saying it was due to circumstances 'beyond its control.'
The city of Bridgeport claims it wasn’t involved in the decision, and only learned of the cancellation after it was finalized.
In a statement, city officials went on to say, "The city is certainly disappointed in this outcome for what has become a great annual event for Bridgeport."
While the festival says tickets will be refunded, locals like Gabi Tozzi are hopeful another music festival can one day take its place.
“We do need to get a music festival back," says Tozzi. "Hopefully, it will come back bigger and stronger than ever.”
