A person was taken to a hospital after being hit and trapped under a car in Bridgeport just after 7:30 p.m. Monday near East Washington Avenue.
Police say the 63‑year‑old Bridgeport male pedestrian was walking westbound on East Washington Avenue in the eastbound lane when he stumbled and fell in the roadway.
According to a preliminary investigation, the pedestrian was hit by a gray car driven by a 56‑year‑old Bridgeport woman who was traveling eastbound on Washington Avenue.
Police say the driver ran over the pedestrian and stopped with the pedestrian trapped under the vehicle. The driver stayed at the scene.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and is listed in critical but stable condition, according to police.
The collision is under investigation by the Bridgeport Police Traffic Division.
