A Stamford couple is keeping the memory of their son alive more than a decade after he was killed while serving as a Navy SEAL.

Brian Bill, 31, of Stamford, was killed in Afghanistan in 2011 when a rocket-propelled grenade struck the helicopter he was in, along with an entire unit of the Navy's elite SEAL Team 6. The attack killed all 30 Americans aboard.

"I thought he was invincible -- he told me he was, and I believed him," Pat Parry, Bill's mom, told News 12 on Thursday.

Parry and her husband, Dr. Michael Parry, have released never-before-shared pictures and videos of their son ahead of an annual golf tournament and dinner that raises money for an endowed scholarship at Bill's alma mater, Norwich University in Vermont. It is America's first private military college.

The newly released images include scenes from birthday parties, intimate family portraits and a fishing trip -- bringing fresh color to a stirring American story about love, loyalty, and sacrifice.

"All of these images are etched onto our hearts -- and we feel every beat of them, every moment of every day," Dr. Parry said. "Our goal is to make sure that Brian's spirit and his goals and his beliefs are perpetuated in the lives of the Brain Bill scholars who are created because of the scholarship.”

The Brian Bill Memorial Golf Tournament & Dinner are taking place on June 9, at Woodway Country Club in Darien, the couple said.

"We hope people will come out, regardless of whether they play golf or not, and support this wonder cause that's very close to our hearts," Dr. Parry said.

The Brian R. Bill Memorial Scholarship has raised more than $2 million for students.
