Woodbridge police say two people were found dead inside an Orchard Road home following a well-being check on Oct. 2.
Police say officers were called to the home around 11:49 a.m. after an employee of the homeowners reported being unable to contact them. Officers entered through a rear window and found 66-year-old Jo Ann Karales and 71-year-old William Karales dead.
The medical examiner determined Jo Ann died from a gunshot wound to the neck and ruled her death a homicide. William’s death was ruled a suicide.
Neighbors told News 12 they were shocked by what happened. One man who lives in the area said it was “terrible that people got shot in their own home,” adding that violence should never be the answer and that people should separate or divorce instead of allowing a situation to escalate.
The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Unit was called to process the scene. Woodbridge police say the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no danger to the public.
