State lawmakers said Monday they are abandoning a controversial proposal for women-only spaces at gyms.
The Edge Fitness Center, which has multiple locations in Connecticut, proposed the idea several years ago.
However, the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled that female-only sections violate the state's anti-discrimination laws.
Monday's announcements follow testimony from Friday, where opponents said they were worried that
transgender customers could possibly be excluded from gyms.
Numerous women also testified that they felt uncomfortable working out around men.
