Dominican-French national sentenced for gun trafficking scheme with ties to Connecticut
A Dominican and French citizen has been sentenced to 66 months in federal prison for an illegal firearm trafficking scheme with ties to Connecticut.
Prosecutors say 29-year-old Dimitri Beix led the plot to smuggle guns, gun components and ammunition from the United States to Dominica from January 2021 to September 2024.
He used a network of suppliers, buyers and shippers in Connecticut and other locations to facilitate the procurement.
He gave his American suppliers a list of firearm parts to buy on his behalf via eBay and other retailers, according to investigators.
He also bought more than 100 firearm components himself and had them shipped to individuals in the U.S. before they sent it to him in Dominica.
In Feb. 2023, Dominican authorities intercepted three parcels shipped from the U.S. to Beix.
They uncovered six handguns, Glock slides, trigger assemblies, rifle magazines, rifle components, a suppressor kit, ammunition and more.
Prosecutors say he was arrested in Sint Maarten at the request of the U.S. and has been detained since Nov. 27, 2024.
He was extradited to the U.S. in February 2026 and pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy to violate the Export Control Reform Act.
