Supporters of a proposed bridge between Long Island and Bridgeport launched
a new website as part of their effort to share updates and information.
Easton developer Steve Shapiro testified before the State Commerce Committee in Hartford last week in support of a measure that would study the practicality of building a bridge.
Shapiro said a New York study nine years ago focused on construction costs. He told lawmakers the new study should center on economic benefits and reduced traffic for the city, county, and state. He said the project would be less expensive than adding lanes to the Merritt Parkway or Interstate 95 and would avoid disturbing neighborhoods.
Shapiro said the committee has until March 24 to advance the bill to the floor.
