Before the world’s best golfers tee it up at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell in six weeks, builders are hard at work prepping the course.
Tournament officials hosted members of the media at the Travelers Championship media day.
The No. 1 ranked golfer in the world, and last year’s tournament champion, Scottie Scheffler joined Tuesday’s press event virtually.
“If you ask any caddie on tour what his favorite event is, it’s probably going to be the Travelers Championship,” Scheffler says. “We always get a great crowd, and it’s always a fun event to play.”
Tournament director Nathan Grube says workers started building stanchions and staging areas last month.
“There’s so much steel and wood and tent and infrastructure that’s put out here,” Grube says. “What’s cool about it, is we get to design it every year.”
Last year, the Travelers Championship generated more than $3 million for over 100 different charities.
This year’s tournament runs from June 16th to June 22.
